10/2s Cure for Kids Carnival

posted July 25, 2010 by Carol Downing - viewed 182 times

Today the 10/2s aided by Melissa Joannou from the 10/4s played in the all day Cure for Kids Netball Challenge at Meadowbank Park.   As in the last few years we had just a very light shower, the rain stayed away and we completed all the games.

There were 5 teams in the 10yrs including Comets.   North Ryde Spirits 15 (10-1) and Gladesville Ravens 19 (10-3) representing ERNA.  From the Hills association there were two Beecroft teams, a 10/2 and a 10/4 team.

Over the course of the day we played 8 games, playing each team twice.   After playing each team once we had won against every team.  However, the second time we played the 10/2 Beecroft team we lost our first game for the year.  So at the end of the day, the Comets had lost one game and the 10/2 Beecroft team had lost one game.

At the end of the day both teams were called up to control.  It worked out that we had scored more goals during the day than the Beecroft team, but we had more goals scored against us.  So based on goals for and against we lost by 0.104%.  Our girls were rewarded for their effort and were given the same gold medals that were given to the Beecroft team.

It was a great day but very tiring, especially when we had to play 2 games back to back. You only get one minute before the next game starts.  All the girls seemed to really enjoy the day.  For some of them they played in positions that they never play on Saturday morning, eg Katherine and Abigail played goal shooters and Isballa played centre and wing defense.

Thanks to all the girls for trying their hardest even when they were really tired.  Thanks to all the parents for letting the girls play on a Sunday!!!!

Thanks to the coaches for preparing the girls so well and to all the parents that came to cheer the girls on and helped out when the circumstances arose.

A Very Big Thanks to the umpires, Katherine, Lia and Rachel !!!!
