Week 13 - 10/2s

posted July 31, 2010 by Carol Downing - viewed 45 times

Today the Comets played West Ryde Rovers 37 who are coming second in Division 2.  We had previously won against them in wet conditions.  We again played in wet conditions and we won 13-3.

We were all hoping that the game today would be called off given that it was still raining at 6.30 am this morning and we knew how rough this game would be.  Unfortunately, not to be and Giulia personally rang everybody to let them know they had to turn up.

It was a very rough game with lots and lots of contact.  The umpires did pick up the contact in many cases.  The girls all did a fantastic job considering the wet conditions. At the end of the game, the umpire congratulated the girls on how well they all passed the ball, 10yr girls should not be able to pass that well - she had previously congratulated the coaches on how well the girls were coached.

Breanna, Isabella and Katherine (after showing her shooting ability at the carnival) all did a wonderful job at shooting goals.  It was very rough in the goal circle as the Rovers GK and GD literally tried to stick to the shooters.

Abigail, Alaina, Caitlin, Courtney and Kaysha all did an excellent job at turning the ball over and getting it quickly back down to the Comets goal circle.

Congratulations to all the girls on a winning a very tough game.

See you all next Saturday for the last game of the season.
