Week 14 - 10/2s

posted August 7, 2010 by Carol Downing - viewed 179 times

On what should have been the last game of the season, the Comets played against West Ryde Rovers 38, winning 21-0.  Our previous game against this team was rained out and we will play them next week.

Unfortunately, the opposition has not won a game this season, and to make the game more challenging the coaches told the girls that once they were sufficiently ahead of the other team, they would let them play positions that they don't normally play.  The same will apply to next weeks game.  The girls have been told to give some thought during the week to what positions they might like to play.

During the first three quarters the girls played in roughly their normal positions.  Breanna and Katherine did an excellent job as shooters giving the Comets an 18-0 lead.  Caitlin was her usual terrific self at wing defence.  For a bit of a change Isabella had a great run as centre.  Abigail, Alaina and Courtney played fantastic defense keeping the opposition scoreless.

At three quarter time the coaches mixed things up, attempting to give some of the players more of a run than they normally get.  Alaina (GA) and Caitlin(GS) played shooters, scoring 3 goals between them.  Breanna had a run at wing defence and Courtney at centre.  Abigail played wing defence, Kaysha goal defence and Isabella goal keeper.

We are very lucky to have a wonderful group of girls who have the ability to play effectively in any position they are slotted into.

Thanks to Maria and her mum Mel for coming to watch the girls play!

See you all next week at the first of the two washed out games.!!
