8’s Week 14- Report
This week our friendly opposition was West Ryde Rovers and this
team are a very strong team in our division having already played last season. There was a big improvement in our girls from Week 3 when we last played this team. Even though the score was 11/1 we had so many unlucky attempts at goal today that the score could have been much closer. Tanisha was our super goal scorer for today! Well Done!
Throughout the season we have been changing the girl’s positions each quarter, as recommended by ERNA and this has really helped the girls to learn the positions this season. It is the fairest way to give all the girls a chance at every position at this age. Not many other teams have been doing this and our Comets will definitely benefit in the long term.
Our McDonalds awards this week went to Skye for her improved work in Defence and to Mandy for her positional play and great team work.
Alanah, Genevieve, Tarsha and Jyothi were all zipping around the court today and Elicia, Kathryn and Tanisha were intercepting the ball well. I could see everyone trying really hard to stick to their player today so I think our defence work at training is paying off!
A special Happy Birthday to Kathryn for today.
Thanks to our cheer squad and to Jyothi for the yummy treats after the game.
Next week it is Mandy’s turn to bring the lollies or fruit to the game. We will be on Court 14 again next week, against Marsfield Bluebelles.
Thanks to Sharon Ross, Rowena and Graeme who have kindly volunteered to do our canteen duty next week. Our time is from 8.45 until 10am. Please be there 5 minutes early.
Training will be from 4.30pm -5.30pm this week. See you all there!
